Welcome to Moonbeams:

Moonbeams aims to support the emotional health and wellbeing of children and families, by working directly with them and the professionals that care for them.  Based in Lichfield, we provide a package of therapeutic services to families and schools in the region, to support the mental health of children.

1 in 10 children and young people aged 5 – 16 suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder, including conduct disorders, anxiety and depression. This is around three children in every classroom. (Young Minds).

Our Services Include:

1:1 Play Therapy and Group Therapy

Most children will experience emotional difficulties at some point during their development.  Sensitive care and support is usually enough to help them through difficult times.  However, sometimes children need additional help, particularly if they have experienced a significant life changing event or trauma.  Individual or group Play Therapy may be an appropriate intervention for these children.

Creative Workshops

You will learn about creative approaches to support the mental health of the children you work with.  This in turn promotes positive behaviour and a calmer child.

Workshops scheduled for 2017 include:

  • What is Therapeutic Play
  • Therapeutic Story Writing
  • Creative Visualisation
  • Story Massage
  • Music and Movement
  • Clay Play

Therapeutic Story Books

In our ever visual world, it is vital that children have an opportunity to listen and imagine. Therapeutic stories provide “nourishment for the soul”. Utilising the magic of metaphor, therapeutic stories access children’s inner emotional worlds and help them to gain a greater understanding of their emotions and to support them as they find solutions to their problems.

Jacqui has created many such stories for her own children and her clients, and is in the process of turning these into a series of engaging storybooks, illustrated by talented emerging artists. These stories will be enjoyed by all children in your setting, but will have particular symbolic significance for children experiencing challenging circumstances.

Early Years Community Arts

I have been an Early Years Community Arts Practitioner for over 15 years. Working with organisations such as Libraries, Charities, Arts Organisations, Nurseries and Schools, I have worked with hundreds of children and families, including those experiencing challenging circumstances and with SEN.

I am a passionate advocate for the arts as a medium to bring families together, promote learning and development, and enhance community cohesion.

I am also an experienced fundraiser and project manager and have raised over £100,000 to run Community Arts Projects. Please get in contact if you would like to find out how I can help you raise funds to get your Early Years Arts project off the ground.
